SLS and MJF 3D printing in nylon – through partners
SLS and MJF fuse nylon powder with a laser or heat. Parts are strong, even and need no support structures. We offer this technology through partners.
What are SLS and MJF?
Powder-based industrial methods where parts are built in a bed of nylon powder. The surrounding powder supports the part, so complex shapes and moving mechanisms can be printed in one piece.
When it pays off
Small and medium batches of technical parts, snap fittings, hinges and highly loaded parts. For single parts, FDM in PA6-CF or PETG-CF is often cheaper.
How we work
We review the design, suggest a material and order production from a partner. You get price and delivery time before anything is ordered.
Design for powder bed
Because the powder carries the part, no supports are needed, but hollow parts must have openings so the powder can be removed. Walls should be at least about 1 mm and moving parts need a few tenths of a millimetre of clearance.
Surface and colour
SLS and MJF parts get an even, slightly rough surface in white or grey. If you have colour or finish requirements, we find out what the partner can offer before you order.
Alternatives we make in-house
- PA6-CF and PA12-CF (carbon-fibre nylon) in FDM
- PETG-CF for stiff parts
- TPU for flexible parts
Frequently asked questions
Do you print SLS yourselves?
No, we order SLS and MJF through partners. We do FDM and SLA ourselves.
How long does it take?
Usually 1–2 weeks through a partner, depending on the batch.
Is SLS stronger than FDM?
SLS parts are equally strong in all directions. FDM in carbon-fibre nylon can be stiffer but weaker between layers.
